Mad Magazine was the equivalent of the Big Bang for American post-war humor. Mad taught people to question authority, to think for themselves, and to laugh at the absurdity and horror of life.

Al Feldstein
At EC Comics, Al Feldstein created, wrote, illustrated and edited a popular line of titles which are now collectors' items. These included horror, such as Tales from the Crypt (which was adapted for TV by HBO), sci-fi, and suspense.

In 1955, he became editor of MAD Magazine, one of EC's titles. He took the magazine's circulation from 375,000 to a high of almost 3 million by gathering a staff of talented artist and writers: supervising every phase of operation, editing and re-writing every word, designing layouts, and creating the format that led to MAD's success, including christening its trademark Alfred E. Neuman.

Al Jaffee
In 1955, Al Jaffee received his first assignment for MAD. Since then Jaffee has become MAD's reseident artist for elaborate gimmicks and gadgets, including the popular MAD inside back cover fold-ins and the feature "Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions." Jaffee is a true artist who's led an amazing life. He remains a regular in the magazine after 55 years and is its longest running contributor.
Paul Coker Jr.
After a successful stint as an illustrator for Hallmark, Paul Coker Jr. moved to New York City and began contributing to MAD, Esquire, Playboy, and other magazines.

Coker's first appearance in MAD was 1961. He has since gone on to illustrate over 400 articles for the magazine. His drawings encompass a wide range of characters, expression, and forms. And although they may appear simple, they reflect considerable sophistication and talent. Coker's proudest accomplishments for MAD have been "Horrifying Cliches" and the MAD Pet Book.

Sergio Aragones
Soon after he moved from Mexico to the United States in 1962, the "World's Fastest Cartoonist" started contributing to MAD with his special brand of non-verbal gags, which often appeared in the margins of the magazine. He quickly became one of MAD's featured artists. He also created several books and co-created the humorous magazine Plop for DC comics. During the early 1980's he created Groo the Wanderer with Mark Evanier.

Brian Azzarello
Brian Azzarello is the Eisner Award winning writer of 100 Bullets. The New York Times best seller's other notable DC Comics work include Joker, Luthor, Hellblazer, Filthy Rich, Doctor 13, Superman: For Tomorrow, Batman: Broken City, Knight of Vengeance, and the upcoming series Spaceman to be published by Vertigo. As part of DC Comics New 52, Azzarello is writing Wonder Woman.

Jeremy Bastian
Jeremy Bastian burst on the scene with his creator-owned project, Cursed Pirate Girl. His exquisitely detailed art has turned the title into an indie comix darling.

Joe Benitez
Joe Benitez is an artist who has worked on JLA, Superman / Batman, Detective Comics, Supergirl, Titans, and The Darkness for Image Comics. Joe is currently working on a new creator-owned book Lady Mechanika with Aspen Comics.

Simon Bisley
Simon Bisley is one the British masters of comics starting out in the lauded title 2000AD with ABC Warriors and Slaine the Horned God. His painting have graced the covers and pages of title including Judge Dredd, Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hellblazer, and many more. A rare US appearance only at the Boston Comic Con!

Stephanie Buscema
Stephanie Buscema is a freelance illustrator and cartoonist who has contributed to Girl Comics, Web of Spider-Man and several projects for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Disney, and more. Coming from a family of comic creators, Stephanie is a rising star in the industry!

Mark Brooks
Mark Brooks is an artist working exclusively with Marvel Comics who has drawn dozens of titles, including Amazing Spider-Man, Ultimate Fantastic Four, New X-Men, and Cable/Deadpool. He also co-created the new Latina Spider-Girl character, Arana.

Talent Caldwell
Talent Caldwell began his career at Aspen Studios taking on their premier title Fathom before going on to tackle other iconic properties such as Gen 13, Wildcats, Superman, and Spectacular Spider-Man.

Jim Calafiore
Jim Calafiore is known for his angular style of drawing and has held longs runs on Aquaman and Exiles. He's recently taken on Batman's villains in Gotham Underground.

Greg Capullo
Greg Capullo is an American illustrator and the newly appointed artist on DC's relaunch of Batman. The quintessential penciller of Todd McFarlane's Spawn, he's recently finished work on Robert Kirkman's Haunt. Other credits include Marvel's X-Force, Quasar his own creation, The Creech.

Jo Chen
Jo Chen began her career on the Wildstorm comic Racer X and followed up with runs on Robotech, Battle of the Planets, and more. She also created her own manga titled The Other Side of the Mirror for Tokyo Pop. She is probably best known for her cover work on titles including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Robin, Angel, and Star Wars.

Jim Cheung
Originally hailing from the UK, Jim Cheung now resides in Florida, while penciling exclusively for Marvel Comics. He is currently working on Avengers: Children's Crusade with Allan Heinberg. Past projects include Iron Man, X-Force, Uncanny X-Men, Illuminati, and New Avengers.

Cliff Chiang
Cliff Chiang's artwork has been hailed for its "fluid and confident storytelling" and "sweeping linework and nuanced style." Currently drawing the critically-acclaimed Wonder Woman title for DC Comics new 52, he has also worked on Green Arrow, Detective Comics, and an adaptation of Neil Young's Greendale.

Becky Cloonan
Becky Cloonan is a highly prolific comic book creator who has spawned several creator-owned titles including Demo, Pixu, East Coast Rising, and her latest, Wolves. In addition she has worked for Dark Horse and Vertigo on titles like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Virgin, Northlanders, and several anthologies.

Amanda Conner
Amanda Conner started out in comics working on small projects for Marvel and Archie and has become one of the most prominent artists in the industry. Her work on the Power Girl story in Wednesday Comics led to a lengthy run on PG's solo title. She just recently was announced to be one of the artists on Nike's superhero-themed ad campagin.

Katie Cook
Katie Cook is best known for her licensing work in the Star Wars and Marvel Universe. She's also been making Henson fans happy with her work drawing and writing for the Fraggle Rock comic. She has a weekly webcomic, Gronk: A Monster's Story, that folks have been enjoying and "squee"-ing over.

Clayton Crain
Clayton Crain is a comic book artist who primarily uses digital painting techniques in his art. He is best known for his work on Ghost Rider, Sensational Spider-Man, X-Force, and most recently Carnage.

Geof Darrow
Geof Darrow, co-creator and artist of the mini-series Hard Boiled and Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot with writer/artist Frank Miller, is returning to Boston Comic Con! His insanely detailed work has been featured as part of The Matrix series, and on his creator-owned series Shaolin Cowboy.

Renae De Liz
Renae De Liz is known for Rogue Angel, her adaptation of The Last Unicorn, and currently is working on Anne Rice's Servant of the Bones. The founder of the Womanthology project, an anthology hightlighting the female creators in the comic book industry, became one the most successful Kickstarters in history.

Steve Epting
Steve Epting started his career with First Comics before thrilling Marvel fans with a fifty issue run on Avengers in the mid 90s. Today he continues that tradition penciling long runs on Captain America, The Marvels Project, and Fantastic Four.

Agnes Garbowska
Agnes Garbowska is the creator and artist of You, Me, and Zombie, a fun all-age adventure book about a girl and her dog who wake up in a world full of zombies.

Michael Golden
Michael Golden’s realistic style and dynamic designs have influenced a generation of artists who grew up idolizing his work on Micronauts, G.I. Joe, Dr. Strange, The ‘Nam, Howard the Duck, and more. He has also worked extensively in commercial illustration and animation. After a long hiatus from comic books, Michael has returned to the industry to great acclaim from fans and peers alike.

Greg Horn
Greg Horn is best known for his artwork on Marvel Comics titles including Elektra, Emma Frost, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. His photo-realistic renditions of sexy superheroines have made him a fan favorite and one of the predominant cover artists in the industry.

Jamal Igle
Jamal Igle has worked his way up the ranks from a 17 year-old intern at DC Comics to become a successful penciler. With titles including Supergirl, Firestorm, Nightwing, and Teen Titans on his resume, it was recently announced he will be the artist on The Ray.

Rebekah Isaacs
Rebekah Isaacs is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design who has quickly risen in the industry with work on titles like Captain America, DV8, and Hack/Slash. She is currently penciling and inking Angel & Faith for Dark Horse Comics.

Phil Jimenez
Phil Jimenez is an Wizard, Diamond, and Inkpot Award -winning writer and artist who has worked for DC and Marvel Comics for the past two decades. Best known for his work on New-X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis, Otherworld, and the Amazing Spider-Man. Jimenez has also worked in film, television, and print media.

Ken Kelly
Ken Kelly is a fantasy painter whose work is beloved by fans worldwide. After studying under Frank Frazetta, Ken took the commercial art world by storm with covers to Vampirella, Conan, and numerous album covers, including two for the band KISS.

Brian Kong
Brian Kong started at Marvel Comics in 1994. He has since worked on high profile properties including Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Star Trek, LOTR, Dexter, and Topps. Currently Brian is working on projects for Vampirella, Red Sonja, Star Wars, Star Trek, MLB, and Leaf's 2012 Legends of Wrestling.

Bob Layton
Bob Layton is one of the comics industry's true visionaries whose long run on Iron Man has defined the character ever since and strongly influenced the wildly popular film versions. Bob also revived the original X-Men characters at Marvel with his groundbreaking hit series X-Factor. Bob returned to Marvel this year (as co-plotter and inker) on his four-issue mini-series Iron Man Forever.

Norman Lee
Norman Lee's ink has covered every major character in the Marvel Universe. Most recently he is working on such titles as Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man, Marvel Adventures: Avengers, and Exiles.

Kevin Maguire
Kevin Maguire is a comic book penciller, best known for his work on series including Justice League, Batman Confidential, Captain America, and X-Men.

Alex Maleev
Alex Maleev is an acclaimed artist known for his work with writer Brian Michael Bendis on Daredevil, Spider Woman, Scarlet, and Moon Knight. Born in 1971 in Sofia, Bulgaria, he has won the Russ Manning award in 1996 for Most Promising Newcomer and the Eisner Award for best ongoing series in 2003.

Francis Manapul
Francis Manapul is an artist with credits on titles including Legion of Super-Heroes, Witchblade, and GI Joe. He is currently both writing and penciling The Flash for DC Comics' New 52 line. You may also recognize him as one of the hosts of SyFy’s cryptozoology program Beast Legends.

Clay Mann
Clay Mann is a comic book artist currently working for Marvel Comics. His artwork has graced the pages of X-Men, Thor, and Iron Fist.

Ed McGuinness
Ed McGuinness is a Massachusetts native who broke into comic books with his a wildly popular run on Deadpool. Since then he's worked on some of the most iconic characters including Superman / Batman, Thundercats, and The Incredible Hulk.

Mark McKenna
Mark McKenna has worked on Batman, Wolverine, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and most recently on Star Wars, counting over 450 comics in all. Mark's most recent work can be seen on Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars-The Old Republic: The Lost Suns. Star Wars: Blood of the Empire was collected into an 84-page trade paperback. Also look for Mark's children's book series Banana Tail.

Phil Noto
Phil Noto began his career in animation at Walt Disney Feature Animation working on such films as Lion King, Pocahontas, and Lilo and Stitch. He moved to the comic industry in 2001 and has drawn titles including Danger Girl, Batgirl, Avengers, X-23, and Wolverine/Jubilee.

Jimmy Palmiotti
Jimmy Palmiotti is a multi award-winning character creator with independent projects like Ash, Painkiler Jane, and more. In addition to his artwork, Jim is also widely known as a writer on titles including Power Girl, Jonah Hex, and most recently All-Star Westerns in DC Comics' new 52 lineup.

Jason Pearson
Jason Pearson is a fan-favorite cartoonist best known for his creator owned series Body Bags. He has also done long runs on covers for Deadpool, Avengers, Spider-Man, and many more!

David Petersen
David Petersen became an indie comics sensation with the release of his epic Mouse Guard. Since then his award-winning series has garnered popular and critical acclaim as one of the best kid-friendly publication on the market.

Joe Prado
Joe Prado began his comic career working in the Brazilian market of comics and has thrilled American audiences. Joe has worked on some of the most popular titles in comics today, such as Superman, Teen Titans, Birds of Prey, Rann / Thanagar War, and now the new Aquaman for DC Comics.

Joe Quinones
Joe Quinones is a Boston local artist who is on the rise in comics. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, he worked on Teen Titans Go! before being hand-picked to draw the Green Lantern strip in Wednesday Comics. Recently his covers have graced titles for all the major companies including Hack/Slash, Star Wars: Knight Errant, and Amazing Spider-Man.

Khary Randolph
Khary Randolph is a Boston native and has worked for a number of clients in the animation, advertising, and comic book industries and left his mark on many properties, such as Spider-Man, X-Men, Hellboy, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Boondocks, and Teen Titans. He is currently employed by 4Kids Entertainment as Lead Character Illustrator on the cartoon and online card game Chaotic.

Tom Raney
Tom Raney has a long list of titles he's worked over the course of his career including X-Men, Thor, Outsiders, and Stormwatch. Most recently he's been the penciller of Avengers Academy for Marvel.

Ivan Reis
Ivan Reis comes to Boston all the way from Brazil for a rare US appearance! A frequent collaborator of writer Geoff Johns, Ivan has gained widespread acclaim for his work on Green Lantern, Superman, and Blackest Night. He is currently drawing Aquaman in the new 52 relaunch.

Paolo Rivera
Paolo Rivera, a Marvel-exclusive artist, has been working professionally since 2002. Although he began his career painting in oil, he has since moved on to penciling, inking, and coloring. Rivera's best known work is Mythos, a series of six richly-painted origin stories written by Paul Jenkins. Currently his work can be seen in Daredevil.

Craig Rousseau
Craig Rousseau began his career at DC Comics on such titles as Impulse, Harley Quinn, Batman Beyond, and Gotham Adventures. He is currently working on Iron Man: Armor Wars after a successful run on Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. Craig is also the co-creator of the indie comic hit The Perhapanauts.

Tim Sale
Tim Sale is the penciller and inker of many stories with the mighty Jeph Loeb, including Batman: The Long Halloween, Superman for All Seasons, Spiderman Blue, and Captain America: White. He also created the art used on the NBC television show Heroes.

Steve Scott
Comic artist Steve Scott's work can currently be seen on Batman: Pieces, Batman Confidential, the X-Men Forever series with writer Chris Claremont, and recent Green Lantern and JLA special projects at DC Comics. Recent and current projects include working with industry legends Louise Simonson and Chris Claremont on the titles Magik and Exiles, the Marvel Adventures line, and She-Hulk.

Bill Sienkiewicz
Bill Sienkiewicz is Emmy nominated and Eisner award winning artist, best known for revamping the style of comic and graphic novel illustration from 1980 onward, most notably with on Elektra Assassin, Moon Knight, New Mutants, and his acclaimed graphic novel Stray Toasters. A classically trained painter, Bill's renderings incorporate abstract and expressionist influences and any combination of oil painting, acrylics, watercolor, mixed-media collage and mimeograph; previously unheard of in comics.

Arthur Suydam
Award winning comic creator Arthur Suydam is perhaps best known for his work on the recent smash hit Marvel Zombies. Suydam has also contributed to Batman, Deadpool, Army of Darkness, The Avengers, Wolverine, Raise the Dead, Red Sonja, Moon Knight, and Ghost Rider. His collected works have been featured in Visions: The Art of Arthur Suydam through Dark Horse, The Fantastic Art of Arthur Suydam, and Art of the Barbarian.

Marcio Takara
Marcio Takara has worked for Marvel Comics on Spider-Man & Fantastic Four: Hard Choices and Marvel Adventures Super Heroes, Image Comics on Dynamo5, and Boom! Studios on The Incredibles and Incorruptible.

Ben Templesmith
Ben Templesmith is a New York Times best selling artist and writer most widely known for 30 Days of Night (which spawned a major motion picture), and Fell. His other projects include the critically acclaimed serial Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse, as well as Welcome to Hoxford and Singularity 7, all of which he also wrote.

Mark Texeira
Fine art painter and comic illustrator Mark Texeira has long been associated with a conflagration of characters ranging from Ghost Rider to Black Panther to Wolverine to Sabertooth to Moon Knight to Punisher and on. His work has been explored and highlighted on the DVD of the Ghost Rider movie, the look of which he influenced. Mark was also tapped to do the movie tie-in for Wolverine Origins, which also seemed to be a natural fit!

Jill Thompson
Jill Thompson is a New York Times best-selling graphic novelist and Reuben and Eisner award winning cartoonist known for her creator owned titles Scary Godmother and Beats of Burden. Additionally, she has worked for DC Comics on Sandman, Swamp Thing, The Invisibles, and Wonder Woman.

Herb Trimpe
Herb Trimpe joined Marvel Comics in 1967 and worked on major titles including Captain America, Fantastic Four, GI Joe, and Transformers. During his eight-year run on Incredible Hulk, Herb had the distinction of co-creating fan favorite character Wolverine in the highly sought after issue #181.

Billy Tucci
Billy Tucci is an illustrator, writer and filmmaker best known for his modern-day samurai fable Shi. Recently he has worked for Marvel and Dc Comics doing titles like Heroes for Hire and Sgt. Rock.

Renee Witterstaetter
Writer, editor, producer, publisher and color artist, Renee Witterstaetter began the comic phase of her career working on such titles as Superman at DC Comics and Silver Surfer, Conan The Barbarian and Conan Saga at Marvel, then going on to spearhead the reintroduction of She-Hulk at Marvel to boot. She then moved over to Topps Comics where she was the editor on X-Files, Jurassic Park, Xena and Hercules and the co-creator with artist Michael Golden of the successful series Spartan X.

Bernie Wrightson
Boston Comic Con is delighted to welcome back horror legend Bernie Wrightson, co-creator of Swamp Thing! A member of the heralded Studio in the 70s, Bernie is well-known for his epic adaptation of Frankenstein as well as his collaborations with author Stephen King on Creepshow, The Stand, and The Dark Tower. As a conceptual artist, Bernie has worked on many movies, particularly in the horror genre: well-known films include Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Spider-Man, and George Romero's Land of the Dead. Most recently he has worked with writer Steve Niles on Dead, She Said, City of Others and The Ghoul.

Skottie Young
Skottie Young cut his teeth doing the art for New Warriors, Human Torch, and New X-Men. His current project, a faithful adaptation of L. Frank Baum's Oz books, has garnered him widespread critical acclaim and several awards. His work can also be seen on the Skottie/Scott blog, a collaboration with artist Scott Morse.

Chrissie Zullo
Chrissie Zullo is a SCAD graduate who's quickly gained attention for her covers on the Fables spinoff Cinderella for Vertigo Comics. She has also contributed to Madame Xanadu and the Womanthology project.
